Apple's flagship modular pro desktop receives a significant update, marking its first major refresh since 2019, with the introduction of the powerful M2 Ultra chip unveiled at WWDC 2023.
The M2 Ultra chip is a combination of two M2 Max chips, delivering an impressive performance boost with its 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, and 32-core neural engine. This powerhouse also brings forth two HDMI 2.1 ports, previously seen in the MacBook 16, as well as dual 10Gb Ethernet connections. With a maximum capacity of 192GB unified memory and eight Thunderbolt 4 ports on the front, the enhanced Mac Pro offers unparalleled versatility.
This upgrade signifies a significant leap forward from the older Xeon-based version, providing enhanced performance and enabling support for multiple high-resolution displays. Additionally, the new Mac Pro embraces modern standards such as PCI Gen 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. Pricing for the upgraded Mac Pro will start at £6,999, reflecting the advanced capabilities it offers.
